Inproheat has helped numerous backyard artisans build pizza ovens, fire pits, tandoors, Mongolian grills, smokers, roasters & BBQs. The common approach to this - and often to forge furnaces and kilns - is to construct the inside surfaces with abrasion resistant high density firebricks or dense castable, which will hold the heat. This working lining is then surrounded with insulating materials to ensure that the maximum heat is retained at the hot face. Insulating Firebricks are often used beneath the hearth to structurally support and insulate the base. Vermiculite board or low bio-persistence Superwool Blanket is used as insulation behind the walls and ceiling.
